Proteins are organic compounds that are rich in nitrogen, which are important for the growth and repair of human tissues. They are the building blocks of life and are the ones responsible for the increased strength and enlarged muscles through regular exercise. Protein can be found in foods such as fish, milk, eggs, meat and dairy products. Some vegetables that are rich in protein are soya, asparagus and peanuts.

Carbohydrates are an important component of living cells and are the source of energy. They are also vital for the normal function of the brain. They are normally stored as glycogen in the muscles and in the liver. Carbohydrates can be found in foods such as potatoes, rice, honey, bread and fruits.

A basketball player must at least eat an hour before the game in order to give his body enough time to fully digest the food, which will become his energy that will be used later on during the game. It is crucial that a player eats lots of carbohydrates so that he will have enough energy during the game.

If during a basketball game you become tired, you can try eating a banana to help replenish your lost energy. Also, drink some water or energy drink in order to replenish the water you have lost (through sweating) during the game.

After the game, it is also important to replenish your energy by eating foods that has lots of protein and carbohydrates. Also, you must always undergo regular exercise to be physically fit and healthy. This will help a player maintain the balance of a healthy mind and a healthy body.
