How to Get Better In Making Basketball Jump Shots
The game of basketball is a fun game to play because it requires a team to play not just offensively, but also defensively. While basketball defense plays a very important role in the game, having a good offense is nevertheless very important as a team will not be able to win if they don’t score points. There are an assortment of shooting techniques when playing the game, but nothing comes close to the grace and effectiveness of a jump shot. This is because an effective jump shooter will be able to shoot even when he is being defended.

If a player has the ability to connect jump shots effectively, it will without doubt increase the offensive potential of a team. The truth is the jump shot, unlike any other shot, is not that difficult. All it takes is determination, motivation, and persistence to master it. Listed below are the steps to make to get better in making basketball jump shots.
1. Foot Placement – your feet should always be shoulder width apart. Upon receiving the ball, make sure to place the foot-side of your shooting hand is nearest the basket than the other foot.
2. Hands – always be ready to shoot as soon as you catch the ball. Make sure the ball is rested on your fingertips and not flat on your palm.
3. Elbow Location – make sure your elbow is aligned towards the hoop.
4. Jump – upon executing a fake drive to throw off your defender, jump straight up and release the shot only at the peak of your leap.
5. Focal Point – try to focus your shot on the center of the hoop.
6. The Shot – give your shot a smooth follow-through backspin to help the shot go in when it hits the hoop. Never force a shot as this will only result missed shot.
